Efficacy of Kanapa™ for Skin Rejuvenation and Repair

Summary of a six-week clinical trial on the effect of Kanapa™ blend on both men and women.

Executive Summary

Comvita Innovation conducted a trial through the University of Auckland to evaluate the Kanapa™ formulations. These formulations, containing species of native New Zealand herbs and unique anti-aging extracts, were developed as part of a premium skin care product range by Natural Products (NZ) Limited, Member of Xtend-Life Group.

The restorative anti-aging effects of the Kanapa™ Soothing Eye Contour Cream, Ultra-Light Sheer Day and Night Cream and Hydrating Facial Fluid For Men were investigated. This study focused on the anti-wrinkle effects that resulted from continuous daily application of these products over a six-week period.

Study Procedure

Twenty healthy volunteers (eight men and 12 women) aged 35 years and up participated in the trial.

All participants were required to apply all products every morning and night over the six week period. They were directed to gently massage the moisturizer in evenly over the face, and apply the eye cream gently to the area around the eyes followed by patting motion towards the nose.

The anti-aging effects of the Kanapa™ formulations were evaluated with the 3D PRIMOS system which provides accurate and objective skin measurements with a resolution of up to 2.4 micrometres.

Summary of Results for Women

The female participants had their wrinkle parameters measured on the final day of treatment and compared to their initial baseline.

The following results were noted after just a six week period:

• 11% reduction in wrinkle length
• 14% maximum reduction in wrinkle depth
• 20% reduction in wrinkle volume
• 34% decrease in wrinkle count

Summary of Results for Men

The male participants had their wrinkle parameters measured on the final day of treatment and compared to their initial baseline.

The following results were noted after just a six-week period:

• 15% decrease in wrinkle length
• 18% maximum reduction in wrinkle depth
• 21% reduction in wrinkle volume
• 26% decrease in roughness
• 33% decrease in wrinkle count

Feedback from the Consumer Testing Panel

After using the products for six weeks, the independent consumer testing panel felt that Kanapa™ formulations:

• Provided sufficient hydration without oiling up throughout the day
• Was easily applied and absorbed
• Left skin softer and smoother
• Caused a noticeable reduction in fine lines and wrinkles
• Improved skin hydration, firmness, and elasticity over six weeks
